Book Condition Guide

All of our books are secondhand/used and as such come in varying conditions. Please read our book condition guide.

Excellent

A clean book, with no defects, but may show slight wear at edges of book or dustjacket. 

Very Good

A book that shows signs of wear. Dust jacket (if applicable) is present. Book and dust jacket may have minor defects such as clipped or chipped dust jacket; owner’s inscription; remainder mark; minor foxing or bumping.  

Good

An average used book with all pages present.  Dust jacket (if applicable) may not be present. May have any of the defects above to a greater degree, including underlining/highlighting; small amount of text in margins; dog-eared pages; bookplate with owners name. Rare and collectible books may have a cocked spine; cracked hinges; loose bindings; water stains; torn or repaired dust jacket.

Good/Fair

A book in good condition as above that has a cracked hinge between two pages. Pages are all present and are NOT loose.

Fair

A book that may be very worn, soiled, torn, or barely holding together.  Usually only rare and collectible books will be sold in this condition.

Ex-library

A book that is in good to very good condition with the usual library stickers, stamps, markings etc.
