In 1968, under the title of Project Eremophila, Margaret Lee got together a group of Society for Growing Australian Plants members (SA Region) who were interested in growing eremophilas. Over several years the group held meetings, distributed cutting for propagation, and gradually acquired knowledge of this previously little known genus. Because of increasing interest from interstate, the May 1972 SGAP Journal carried a request for those interested in joining a national group to contact Ken Warnes of Owen, SA. Ken Warnes became the first leader of the new group and their first newsletter was published in September 1972. The newsletters Nos 1-31 have now been reprinted to make available to others the knowledge acquired over the years by the members of the group. Some of the original material, chiefly that containing information on subscriptions, distribution of cutting material, proposed functions, etc., have been deleted as having little present value. Some membership lists have also been deleted. Apart from these deletions the main changes have been to clarify or delete sections of doubtful meaning, standardise headings and layout, and convert measurements to the metric system.
